BISHKEK: President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov held on Friday a phone talk with Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev, his press service reported.
During the conversation, the leaders discussed topical issues of regional cooperation and bilateral agenda.
The presidents debated the current situation and ways to resolve the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border as soon as possible. They noted with satisfaction an agreements reached between the Kyrgyz and Tajik sides, aimed at normalizing the situation and preventing its further aggravation. Sadyr Zhaparov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that all emerging controversial issues should be resolved through dialogue in the spirit of centuries-old friendship, good neighborliness, trust and partnership. The stressed the importance of continuing intensive exchanges and building up interaction for the unconditional fulfillment of commitments and promotion of priority projects. Chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev met with Saimumin Yatimov, the chairman of the Tajik State Committee for National Security.
The press service of the Kyrgyz National Security said that in an interview with local media, Tashiev said that all issues are being resolved.
“The situation will be completely resolved by tonight,” the chairman said. On April 30, Kamchybek Tashiev left for Batken Oblast of Kyrgyzstan to negotiate with the Tajik side.
