VIENTIANE: The Lao Asia Pacific Satellite (LAOSAT), a joint venture between China and Laos, has donated 100 million kip (some 11,000 U.S. dollars) to the Lao government to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Somdy Douangdy, Lao deputy prime minister and chair of the Task Force Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, expressed gratitude for the donation on Wednesday, and said the Lao government will make full use of the donated resources to fight the pandemic.
“China and Laos are a community with a shared future.
I am grateful to Chinese government for sending anti-epidemic medical expert teams and medical supplies to Laos when the COVID-19 was detected in Laos,” Somdy added.
Laos has confirmed 10 COVID-19 cases as of Thursday morning. – Agencies
