ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of methamphetamine (ice) abroad.
During the operation, 700 kilograms of methamphetamine were seized from a container booked for Malaysia.
According to the media spokesperson, the operation was carried out at the South Asia Pakistan Terminal in Karachi based on intelligence information. The spokesperson further stated that the drug was being smuggled by mixing it with calcium carbonate. A total of 854 bags of calcium carbonate in the container were searched, and 28 bags were found to contain ice. The individual who had booked the container, a resident of Karachi, was arrested.
The container had been booked by a private company in Karachi for shipment to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Investigations are underway to arrest other suspects involved in the operation.
Earlier Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel at Islamabad International Airport foiled an attempt to smuggle 1.3kg of crystal meth abroad and arrested the suspect. –Agencies
