BEIJING: The Chinese mainland on Monday registered 12 new COVID-19 cases, four locally transmitted and eight from overseas, announced the National Health Commission on Tuesday. A total of five new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were recorded, while 264 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation. No COVID-19-related deaths were reported on Monday, and 12 patients were discharged from hospitals. As of Monday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 86,542, with 4,634 fatalities. The total confirmed infections in the Hong Kong and Macao SARs and the Taiwan region are as follows: Hong Kong: 6,314 (5,344 recoveries, 109 deaths), Macao: 46 (46 recoveries), Taiwan: 675 (565 recoveries, seven deaths).
