KASUR: A man who allegedly attempted to rape a minor girl in the city’s DHQ Hospital was arrested Wednesday night, police confirmed.
According to a first information report (FIR), filed by the girl’s father, Mustafa, at the Saddar police station, his daughter is suffering from Cholera and was thus admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital Kasur.
The alleged rapist followed her when she got up to go to the washroom. Upon realising his presence, she cried for help, causing the doctors and hospital staff to rush to her.
The perpetrator, who was caught red-handed and given into police custody, is a resident of Ghagar but has been living with his relatives in the Qadirabad neighbourhood.
After the FIR was registered, police said they have started an investigation.
Dr Tahir Shaheen, a senior doctor and the president of the Young Doctors Association, said that the security contracts in almost all state hospitals in Punjab, including the DHQ Hospital, have been done away with, leading to numerous some problems.
“This incident, too, happened due to this,” Dr Shaheen added.
