Maryam Nawaz, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, is set to be shifted to the Sihala Rest House from Adiala Jail, media reported.
According to reports, the daughter of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif will be shifted within the next 24 hours.
The rest house has already been declared as a sub-jail and security at Sihala has also been beefed up by the authorities.
The decision was made after taking into account security fears at Rawalpindi’s Adiala prison, where Sharif and his daughter and son-in-law Capt Safdar are being kept to serve sentences awarded to them in Avenfield reference by the accountability court earlier this month.
That the despite being at the correctional facility for five days, Maryam is yet to come to grips with her incarceration.
It is believed that she has complained about the presence of mosquitoes, as well as, lack of cleanliness in the prison. Moreover, the PML-N leader is also refraining from consuming the cooked meals given to her at the jail.
The three were sentenced to rigorous imprisonment after the accountability court found them guilty in one of the four corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in line with apex court’s order in the Panama Papers case.
Earlier today, Caretaker Information Minister Punjab Ahmed Waqas Riaz said that Nawaz has been provided facilities of ‘better class’ according to his privilege.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, he said a prisoner of ‘better class’ can get bed, mattress, shoes, table, chair, 21 inch TV, radio, toiletries, newspapers and other such things on his own expenses.
He further disclosed that Nawaz has been kept in a separate room, where facilities like bed, clothes, ceiling fan, two bracket fans and toiletries have been provided to him.
The interim minister maintained that proper place for walking has also been provided to Nawaz Sharif and he regularly walks in a lawn adjacent to his room.
