Karachi: Pakistan men’s team head coach Misbah-ul-Haq believes that the performance of coaches should not be judged on the end results.
It was a must win for Misbah and his coaching staff as PCB’s Cricket Committee said before the South Africa series that there will be no second chance if the results don’t come in Pakistan’s favor.
“Mostly there is a lot of talk after viewing end results. It’s not easy to play on away tours and all circumstances should be viewed before judging,” Misbah said in a virtual presser today.
“If we are here for three years, there will be ups and down and you won’t win every series. The review of performance must be viewed in a longer run,” he added. Meanwhile, Misbah revealed that team’s aim is to become No.1 in Test cricket and in top three in other formats.
“The ultimate goal is to be number one in Tests and top three in other formats and we have been telling the players about this target all through,” he added. Misbah hailed team’s performance under the leadership of new all format captain Babar Azam. “We are heading in the right direction and this win over South Africa has boosted the team’s confidence under a new skipper who is developing with every game,” he added.
Note, Pakistan next plays three T20Is against South Africa in Lahore on February 11, 13 and 14.
After the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six, they will tour South Africa for a limited-overs series in April, followed by a short Test and Twenty20 series in Zimbabwe.
