The national selection committee comprising of provincial coaches has also come to an end and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to change selection policy.
According to sources, it has been decided to form a traditional selection committee again and it will consist of three to four members along with the chief selector. Former Test cricketer Mohammad Akram is a strong candidate for the new chief selector.
The selection committee will seek the opinion of the provincial coaches in the selection of the team and for the series against South Africa, the squad will be selected by a new selection committee.
Note, Misbah stepped down from the role of the chief selector, citing reasons that it was not possible for him to focus on the dual role.
He picked the squads for Zimbabwe and the New Zealand series as his tenure was due to end on November 30, 2020.
