Model Jail in the offing

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to build a model jail in Islamabad on Thursday.
Prior to building of the structure, there is a plan to construct a road leading to it.
Besides that, the National Highway Authority (NHA) will build an interchange at the cost of Rs600 million in order to connect the jail with the motorway, the Srinagar Highway and the 17th Avenue.
And in order to verify the estimated cost, third party consultancy has also been sought.
The interchange will provide the people living in eight sectors of the federal capital as well as around the Islamabad airport an easy access to the jail.
The piece of land on which the government plans to build the jail had been handed over by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to the NHA way back in 1994.
