ISLAMABAD: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST), Islamabad and the University of Okara to promote academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
The agreement was signed during a visit of the University of Okara delegation to the Federal Urdu University on Wednesday. The delegation was led by Director of External Linkages Dr Ekaterina Gavrishyk. The MoU was signed by Dr Faisal Javaid, Deputy Director of ORIC at FUUAST.
Under this agreement, both universities will work together in research, publications and academic activities. They will also explore opportunities for joint programs and collaboration for students and faculty.
Dr Faisal Javaid expressed confidence that this collaboration with the University of Okara will benefit students of both institutions.
He said that the Federal Urdu University is not only actively improving teaching techniques but is also enhancing research programmes across various fields at both national and international levels, along with their publication.
He added that the university is already engaged in academic and research activities with different countries, including Russia.
He also mentioned that Turkish language classes are being conducted under the Department of IR and international research conferences are regularly organized by the university. Dr Ekaterina appreciated the academic and research environment of the Federal Urdu University, Islamabad. She said that the University of Okara is also contributing to education, research and publication at the regional level. She added that working together will help broaden the vision of students and faculty of both universities.
The delegation from the University of Okara included Deputy Director External linkages Dr Muhammad Shoaib, Head of Department IR Dr Fakhra Shahid and Public Relations Officer Sharjeel Ahmed.
Faculty members from Federal Urdu University Islamabad, including Assistant Professor Department of Mass Communication Dr Sikandar Zarren, Ahmed Osama and Ayesha Cheema, were also present on the occasion.
