ISLAMABAD: September 30th, 2020: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence Production met today at 02:00 PM in Ministry of Defence Production Division, Pak Secretariat-II, Rawalpindi under the Chairmanship of Chaudhry Iftekhar Nazir, MNA.
2. The Committee was briefed on establishment of Gwadar Shipyard in detail. Shipyards are directly associated with the economy of a country. The Committee strongly recommended to the Federal Government to establish the Gwadar Shipyard as soon as possible as at present there is only one shipyard at Karachi in Pakistan. The Committee was informed that operationalization of Gwadar port and CPEC provide us golden opportunity to enter activity in shipbuilding industry. The official said that Gwdar shipyard will be a game changer particularly for prosperity for the people of Balochistan and towards improved economy of Pakistan.
3. The Committee was briefed on the upgradation of technical employees of Pakistan Ordinance Factories, Wah. The Committee was informed that proposed upgradation will also require approval of Finance Division and availability of requisite funds by Ministry of Defence. The Committee was also briefed on the restructuring of the Ministry as well as ongoing development schemes in detail.
4. The meeting was attended by MNAs: Prince Muhammad Nawaz Allai, Mr. Farrukh Habib, Mr. Rahat Aman Ullah Bhatti, Mr. Niaz Ahmed Jakhar, Mr. Saif Ur Rehman, Ms. Sajida Begum, Ms. Saira Bano, Mr. Nasir Iqbal Bosal, Mr. Nadeem Abbas, Syed Abrar Ali Shah and Mr. Irfan Ali Laghari and Officers/Officials of the Ministry and its attached Departments ۔
