Karachi: Debutant Nauman Ali, who bowled with great control in first innings of Pakistan-South Africa Karachi Test, is confident of adding valuable runs with the bat after the home side was reduced to 33-4 at stumps on Day 1.
The 34-year-old Nauman bagged South Africa’s skipper Quinton de Kock and notable-run getter Dean Elgar in back to back overs. “I will try to add valuable runs, leading my team to a respectable total in first innings,” Nauman said in post-day virtual presser.
“The wicket has been quite slow and supported spinners. My aim was to bowl according to the plan and it rewarded me success,” he added. On the other, Elgar thinks that South Africa has an upper hand but also lamented his side’s poor batting display.
“I would not have said that after our batting, but then we fought back by taking wickets,” he said.
“Knowing that this pitch will get tougher, and knowing that we have good spinners, I am confident that we can get the first-innings lead,” he added.
