NDMA, FGRF join hands for plantation drive

ISLAMABAD: In a joint effort to promote environmental sustainability and strengthen climate resilience, the Faizan Global Relief Foundation (FGRF) of Dawat-e-Islami on Monday organized a plantation drive at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headquarters in Islamabad, where officials from both organizations planted saplings and pledged continued collaboration on environmental protection initiatives.
The drive was attended by senior NDMA officials, including Brig Shahid Ismail, Director General Establishment, and Col Aziz Ali, Director Admin and Adviser/PM GCC, along with members of the GCC team. Representing FGRF were Regional Incharge M. Aamir Attari, Zone-I Responsible Baghdad Raza Attari, Air Commodore Waqar and Nasir Attari.
Officials participating in the event described tree plantation as an essential component of disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation, stressing that environmental conservation could play a key role in minimizing the impact of natural disasters and safeguarding vulnerable communities. Speaking on the occasion, participants highlighted the importance of institutional partnerships and community engagement in addressing the growing challenges posed by climate change.
They said collaborative initiatives between welfare organizations and government institutions were crucial for building disaster-resilient societies.
The plantation campaign also contributed to efforts aimed at expanding Islamabad’s green cover while reinforcing FGRF Dawat-e-Islami’s commitment to environmental awareness and public welfare activities across the country.
The event concluded with both organizations reaffirming their resolve to undertake further joint projects focused on sustainability, environmental protection and community development.
