FAISALABAD: The announcement of the establishment of the National Economic Advisory Council is the first step towards the “Charter of Economy”. Atif Munir Sheikh, President, Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, termed the political uncertainty and protracted turmoil as a poison for economic development and said that the concept of economic charter was conceived by Shahbaz Sharif himself as Leader of Opposition. Negative effects can be prevented. He said that Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has started the process of preparation of recommendations in this regard but other chambers of the country, leading industrial, trade and business organizations would also have to submit their views and suggestions so that Based on them, a comprehensive strategy could be formulated and approved by the National Assembly. He said that chambers across the country have long been demanding continuity of sustainable economic policies which should not be hampered by change of government. So that the industrial process and especially the flow of exports can continue uninterrupted. He hoped that the political parties would also respond positively in this regard so that the overall productivity of the country would not be affected. He also lamented the resignation of Chairman Board of Investment Azfar Ahsan and said that change of government should not affect the management and policies of the institutions. However, it is a matter of concern that over the years, foreign investment has been frozen at 3 3 billion a year, although it has the potential to increase from 15 15 to 20 billion a year.
