ISLAMABAD: The people of Pakistan, particularly business and academic community of the country have warmly welcomed the arrival of the new Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong, who has reached Islamabad, replacing the ever popular Yao Jing
Locals are of the firm opinion that Ambassador Nong, with strong credentials, will play a pivotal role in facilitating the CPEC projects, that have already entered into the second phase with a particular focus on agriculture, industrialization, and socio-economic development and will resume the things right from where Yao Jing left. Eminent personalities like President of Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, S.M. Naveed, have welcomed Ambassador Non by saying that there was a great hope that Ambassador Nong Rong would be focusing on the second phase of CPEC and will push forward the process of industrialization in Pakistan and that his background in trade and economy gives him an added advantage to promote CPEC projects and reinforce Pakistan-China Economic ties.
Similar sentiments were expressed by Ali Zia Awan, owner of a logistical company called Shelozon. “the Gwadar Port has a great potential to energize Pakistan’s logistical business and industry, “ he added.
Ambassador Nong Rong has been called Mr. Double Port as he has been credited with building two ports in East Asia. We hope that he will play a critical role in the completion of Gwadar Port as well as the projects allied with it.”
Chairman of Pakistan, China Media friendship Association, Makhdoom Babar also very warmly welcomed the arrival of new Chinese envoy and said that he was very hopeful that Ambassador Nong will deliver with great effectiveness and will take Pakistan, China ties to new horizons and will strongly contribute to push the pace of CPEC. “ I know him from China and met him at a few occasions and believe that he is a person who can do a lot good to promote Pakistan, China Friendship and quite capable of building a Port of Brotherhood just the way he built 2 sea ports in the past.” asserted Makhdoom Babar. The academic community of Pakistanis also quite hopeful that the new Chinese envoy will open a new chapter in the Pakistan-China ties. Lt. Col. Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director of Center for Global Strategic Studies (CGSS), a think-tank based in Islamabad expressing best wishes for Ambassador Nong Rong to further deepen Pakistan-China All-weather Strategic Partnership maintained that, “we hope Mr. Nong will deepen Pakistan and China’s academic relations enabling both countries to become intimately aware of their common destiny and future.” Mr. Nong Rong’s experience in the trade, economics, and investment will help steer close coordination and consultations between Pakistan and China to complete CPEC, a landmark project of President Xi’s BRI.
