ISLAMABAD: IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, has issued a formal standing order for the declaration and welfare of the police Ghazis, along with the welfare of the martyrs of Islamabad Police.
IGP Islamabad stated that the martyrs of the police force have been honored, and comprehensive welfare packages are being provided to their families.
However, there was no formal incentive system in place for the declaration and welfare of the Ghazis and for welfare. In this regard, the IGP Islamabad has issued a standing order for the declaration and welfare of the Ghazis of the Islamabad Police. Under the standing order, a committee of senior police officers has been formed under the chairmanship of DIG Headquarters to review the measures taken for the declaration and welfare of police Ghazis. According to the standing order, a standard has been established for the declaration of police force Ghazis, including those who have been injured during duty due to bomb blasts, firing incidents, severe physical injuries during the establishment of law and order, and accidents during traffic duty, to be nominated as Ghazis.
As part of this initiative, the “Islamabad Police Ghazi Medal” and the “Shujaat Medal” have also been issued for the veterans. According to the standing order, Ghazis will receive special consideration, injured police officers will be immediately transferred to full-fledged hospitals, and senior police officers of the relevant division will arrange for their best treatment, care, and transportation.
Moreover, immediate initial compensation will be provided to injured police officers. The nominated Ghazis will be honored with Class One Police Certificate, a cash prize of one lakh rupees, and an honorary certificate. Ghazi police officers will wear a special Ghazi medal on their uniform as well, he added.
However, special honor will be given to Ghazi police officers in transfers and their transfers will be made according to their preference and convenience.
The term “Ghazi” will be added to all records of the police force’s offices. Whereas, senior police officers of the force will visit the homes of Ghazi police officers on festive occasions and present them with gifts. A “Ghazi Week” will be celebrated in the police force, he maintained.
Similarly, Ghazi memorial will be built at the Police Lines Headquarters, and the names of police Ghazis will be prominently displayed there. The name of Ghazis will be highlighted in all police stations. According to the standing order, sacrifices made by officers of the police force during the performance of their duties will be acknowledged with honor. IGP asserted that their dignity and rank will be respected both within the police force and in society.
A new identity will be given to the Ghazis of Islamabad Police. The exemplary achievements of the force’s Ghazis will boost the morale of other officers. Treatment, rehabilitation, severe physical injuries, recovery of body parts, and other medical treatments, including artificial body parts, will be provided to the Ghazis of Islamabad Police in government and other top private hospitals, he maintained.
