NHA sets aside Rs 118.7 billion for 58 schemes under PSDP

ISLAMABAD: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has initiated a number of road development projects in recent years and an amount of Rs 118.7 billion was earmarked for 58 schemes under the Public Sector Development Plan (PSDP) annual plan 2021-22, said NHA Chairman Khurram Agha.

The PSDP set out Rs113.70 billion for the Ministry of Communication and NHA’s road sector development projects in FY21-22, the chairman said while addressing an Kachahri at the Authority’s head office.

He said the Authority is working hard to complete reconstruction and repair work of national highways and motorways across the country in a timely manner as per international standards, WealthPK reported.

Agha said the highways and bridges falling in the NHA jurisdiction were under construction, while talks were underway with the authorities for the projects that had not been approved yet. “Our top goal is to restore roads, bridges, flyovers, and underpasses that have been damaged by rain, overloading, and other factors as soon as possible,”

Agha said. He also promised to conduct effective discussions with the IG Motorway Police as soon as possible on axle-load and listen to the FWO’s orders regarding its issues.

The NHA chairman clarified with reference to construction of the interchanges, and pointed out that the interchanges were constructed as per the law and regulations, and that interchanges would be built where necessary for people’s convenience.

The callers had a number of queries concerning dualization and construction of different ongoing projects, which were adequately addressed. Agha also urged the NHA officials concerned to call the complainants by phone and remedy their problems as soon as possible.
