Bishkek: First Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Nuran Niyazaliyev attended 13th Republic of Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum at the level of Foreign Ministers held on Nov. 25-26 in Seoul, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported Thursday.
The event addressed issues of cooperation between Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea in such relevant areas as public health, distance education, standardization, environment, as well as joint efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his speech, Deputy FM of Kyrgyzstan Niyazaliyev noted regional cooperation is becoming sustainable and creates favorable conditions for the full enhancement of active dialogue and practical cooperation in Central Asia – Republic of Korea format.
In this regard, he expressed hope that President of the Republic of Korea Moon-Jae in’s “New North Policy” initiative, which aims to enhance cooperation with countries in the north, will contribute to sustainable socio-economic development of the Central Asian region.
Niyazaliyev informed the meeting participants about the current domestic political situation in the country, the return of political processes to the legal field, the efforts of the country’s leadership to further strengthen stability and address socio-economic issues.
Referring to cooperation within the framework of the Central Asia – Republic of Korea Forum, he called for implementation of joint projects in the sphere of health care, education, environment, infrastructure, transport, hydropower, digitalization, tourism and providing access to clean drinking water.
The head of the Kyrgyz delegation emphasized the commitment of the Kyrgyz Republic to international obligations and implementation of previously signed bilateral and multilateral treaties and agreements, including those with the Republic of Korea.
