ISLAMABAD: No progress has been made on the reorganisation of Capital Development Authority (CDA) despite the fact that the move was approved by the federal cabinet. The move aimed at the reorganising the civic agency had also planned appointment of new board members which is also not moving ahead despite the repeated assurances given by the interior ministry, sources said.
According to the proposed plan, a new designation of managing director should also to be created but, the sources say, it is impossible without amending the CDA Ordinance, 1960. On the other hand, the federal cabinet had also given a go-ahead for the appointment of new CDA Board members after which the interior ministry issued a notification in this regard. However, retired bureaucrat Kamran Lashari refused to be part of it.
The other new board members according to the notification are: renowned architect Nayyar Ali Dada, Ali Asghar, Brig (retd) Naeem Rehmatullah and Quaid-i-Azam University Vice-chancellor Muhammad Ali. As far as the current composition of the CDA Board is concerned, it comprises six members including its chairman. The five members deals with finance, planning and design, engineering, estate and administration respectively.
Meanwhile, Amer Ali Ahmed – Islamabad chief commissioner – is currently holding the additional charge of CDA chairman who heads the board.
