NVIDIA CEO visits Beijing, reaffirms commitment to China cooperation

BEIJING: On April 17, Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, met with Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, in Beijing. This marks Huang’s return to the Chinese capital just three months after his previous visit. During the meeting, Huang emphasized that China remains a vital market for NVIDIA and expressed hope to continue deepening cooperation.
Huang noted that enhanced U.S. export controls on chips have had a significant impact on NVIDIA’s business. He observed that the world is witnessing intense competition in artificial intelligence (AI), which he views as one of the most transformative technologies of the modern era.
According to Huang, AI is accelerating innovation and application across industries globally and will reshape market structures worldwide, including in China.
He highlighted that NVIDIA has been operating in China for over 30 years, growing alongside the local market. He pointed to China’s large consumer base, dynamic industrial ecosystem, and strong software capabilities as important drivers of NVIDIA’s innovation. These factors, he said, have encouraged the company to increase investment in R&D and have helped enhance its global competitiveness.
He also stated that NVIDIA will continue optimizing its product offerings to meet regulatory requirements and remain committed to serving the Chinese market.
Huang further explained that AI is already having a major impact across sectors. At NVIDIA, he said, nearly all employees now use AI tools to assist with software development. The company also applies AI in scientific research, chip design, and supply chain management.
He believes this transformation is still in its early stages, with industries such as healthcare, financial services, climate science, and manufacturing all poised to undergo disruptive changes driven by AI. –The Daily Mail-CGTN news exchange item
