BEIJING: A motorcade of tourists on a road trip along the G331 National Highway arrived at the North Scenic Area of Changbai Mountain Scenic Area in Jilin province on Sunday, immersing them-selves in a unique interactive event combining science, folklore and ice and snow elements.
An expert used a video to explain the characteristics and benefits of hot springs in Jilin to the visitors.
Cui Chang’an, a 71-year-old ginseng cultivation expert, talked about ginseng, showed ginseng specimens and digging tools and interacted with the tourists using the ginseng chant.
The host also used wildlife photography from Changbai Mountain to explain its representative flora and fauna.
Two giant mascots from the 2027 Winter Universiade interacted with the audience in a Q&A session on winter sports knowledge and distributed badges to create a lively atmosphere.
The northern route of the tour allowed visitors to admire Tianchi Lake, the galaxy-like Chang-bai Waterfall, Yinhuan Lake, Lvyuantan Pool, the underground forest and Jvlong Hot Springs. Besides enjoying the landscapes, visitors got a taste of eggs boiled in the hot springs.
“We saw Tianchi, which is often hidden, on our first visit,” said 26-year-old Meng Hanlin, a tourist who drove from Changchun. “I was deeply moved by the beauty of our country’s border-lands, with the blue sky and water reflecting each other at Tianchi. It was a wide and magnifi-cent view.”
Until Wednesday, the convoy of 30 vehicles and nearly 100 participants will continue traveling along the Jilin section of the G331, which has a reputation for scenic beauty.
The route will take them through multiple cities and counties, where they will take part in activities featuring revolutionary history, ice and snow, intangible cultural heritage and border customs.
The event was organized by the Publicity Department of the Jilin Party Committee, the Jilin Department of Culture and Tourism and the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region’s Department of Culture and Tourism. –The Daily Mail-China Daily news exchange item
