ISLAMABAD: Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh on Friday urged upon the opposition to join hands with the government to create a conducive environment for economic growth, job creation, and poverty reduction as by working together Pakistan can overcome the hurdles of inflation and poverty.
Talking to a private news channel, he made a fervent appeal to the opposition parties to put aside their political differences and join hands with the government to tackle the pressing issues of inflation and economic stagnation.
Sheikh emphasized that the current economic challenges facing the country require a collective effort and a unified approach to overcome.
He urged the opposition to support the government’s initiatives aimed at stimulating economic growth, creating jobs, and reducing poverty.
Ahmad Sheikh stressed that the government is committed to taking all necessary measures to address the economic challenges, but the support and cooperation of the opposition are crucial in this regard.
Sheikh’ s appeal for unity and cooperation is a testament to the government’s commitment to putting the interests of the country above political considerations.
Minister for Maritime Affairs also urged the media to play a positive role in portraying Pakistan’s true face to the world, adding, the media has a significant influence on shaping public opinion and creating perceptions about the country.
He assured that the government values the media’s independence and freedom and is committed to supporting a free and responsible press.
By working together, Sheikh believes that the government and media can create a positive narrative about Pakistan and showcase its true potential to the world.
Responding a query, he acknowledged the pressing issues of inflation and lack of quality education in Pakistan, and emphasized the need for providing standard education to the youth.
He admitted that the current state of education in the country is not up to par and requires immediate attention.
Sheikh stressed that education is the key to unlocking the potential of the youth and driving economic progress, and that it is essential to equip them with skills to compete in the modern economy.
He urged the government and private sector to invest in education and provide opportunities for quality learning, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
Sheikh also highlighted the need for vocational training and skill development programs to prepare the youth for the job market.
