ISLAMABAD: Following the special directions of IGP Islamabad, the Islamabad Traffic Police is constantly working to provide the best possible travel facilities for citizens in the federal capital along with initiating legal action against traffic rules violators.
In this regard, during the last week the Islamabad Traffic Police took legal action against over 11,600 vehicles, motorcyclists and public transport vehicles for traffic law violations.
As part of a special campaign, 998 without helmets, 2552 for illegal parking, 808 for using the wrong direction, 1169 for violating signals, 114 without driving licence, 4741 overloaded vehicles, 94 vehicles for not having fitness certificated and other traffic violations were penalized.
Additionally, legal action was also taken against 207 rickshaw drivers for violating the ban on rickshaw entry into the federal capital.
Moreover, through the use of drone technology, challans were issued to 60 drivers, while 45 drivers were provided with awareness and guidance.
SP Traffic Majid Iqbal urged citizens to comply with traffic laws while driving and cooperate with Islamabad Traffic Police to maintain an integrated traffic system in the city and ensure the enforcement of traffic laws.
Additionally, the Islamabad Traffic Police is making every possible effort to prevent accidents and ensure the rule of law on an equal basis, he added.
