Over 26,000 signal violators fined this year

ISLAMABAD: Following the special instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, comprehensive measures are being taken to further improve and streamline the traffic system in the federal capital and to make the city free from traffic accidents.

In this regard, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has intensified its action against drivers who violate traffic signals. In addition to the Traffic Congestion Unit, special squads have been deployed at major roads and key locations across Islamabad.
These squads are strictly enforcing traffic laws, particularly targeting those who violate traffic signals. During the ongoing year, the ITP has taken indiscriminate action against 26,563 drivers who violate traffic signals.
Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Captain (retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider has instructed all zonal officers to carry out strict and impartial action against those who violate traffic signals. He emphasized that no leniency should be shown to individuals who put their own and the lives of others at risk by causing traffic accidents.
The ITP education wing has also been specially directed to educate the public about the dangers of traffic violations and to promote awareness regarding traffic laws. Citizens are being informed that adherence to traffic rules is essential for the protection of life and property.
Furthermore, special broadcasts on traffic rules and awareness will be aired on Islamabad Traffic Police FM Radio 92.4. Citizens are urged to follow traffic signals and other rules as they are vital for their own safety and the safety of others.
