WUHAN: Over 30 million fish were released on Monday into the Yangtze River in central China’s Hubei Province.
Among the fish are some protected species, including the Chinese sturgeon and mullet, according to the Hubei provincial government.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Hubei provincial government and the Three Gorges Group jointly organized the activity to boost fish stock and protect aquatic biodiversity. Since 2016, Hubei has released over 2 billion fish into its rivers and lakes, according to the provincial department of agriculture and rural affairs. –Agencies
