ISLAMABAD: Following the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Islamabad Traffic Police is actively conducting legal action against vehicles and motorcycles with fancy or non-standard number plates.
In this regard, special enforcement squads have been deployed at various checkpoints throughout Islamabad. These squads have taken legal action against 33,000 drivers during the ongoing year, impounded numerous vehicles at different police stations and removed non-standard number plates.
Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Captain (retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider has issued special instructions to all zonal DSPs to intensify action against such violations and emphasized that adherence to traffic laws in the federal capital must be strictly maintained.
He also directed that indiscriminate action should be continued against violators. This initiative aims to ensure compliance with traffic laws and reinforce the rule of law, he added.
He also appealed to the public to register their vehicles and motorcycles without delay and use only number plates issued by the excise and taxation department.
