Karachi: Former sppedster Shoaib Akhtar had a nostalgic feeling after viewing a great display of fast bowling by Pakistan in the second Test against South Africa at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.
The 46-year-old Akhtar on his YouTube channel said that this bowling by Pakistani pacers took him back to a golden time of Pakistan Cricket ‘The Wasim-Waqar Era’.
“After a very long time, Pakistan pacers exhibited the purest form of fast bowling which we all were looking forward to seeing,” Akhtar said.
“It was commanding fast bowling and the art which Wasim-Waqar used to do. There was reverse swing, length-ball dismissals,” he added.
Meanwhile, Akhtar praised Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah and Mohammad Rizwan for their match-winning performances, giving Pakistan a historic series win over South Africa. “Well-done Hasan Ali. You’ve struggled for one whole year due to injuries but when he came back, his progression from first to the second Test, leading him to the peak. Not to forget Rizwan as his knock made up the whole match,” he appreciated. “Shaheen came, he bowled fast with attitude. We saw the magic when both pacers were bowling together and they wrapped up South Africa quickly,” he added.
