ISLAMABAD: The authorities have reopened all border crossings with Afghanistan in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to pedestrians four days a week, reports emerged Tuesday.
Pakistan’s special representative for Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq tweeted Monday night, saying all border terminals located in KP, including Torkham, would be opened for pedestrian traffic on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. “The government will fully revert to pre-Corona schedule shortly,” Khan said, referring to the coronavirus crisis due to which the country shut down its borders and suspended domestic and international flights in March.
“Good news: Pakistan has announced the opening of border crossings with Afghanistan in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa for all pedestrian traffic for four days a week – Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursday’s and Saturday’s,” Islamabad’s representative in Kabul, Mansoor Ahmad Khan, said in a tweet.
In July, all main border crossings Chaman in Balochistan, and Torkham, Ghulam Khan, Angoor Adda and Kharlachi in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were reopened. Afghan overland exports to India through the Wagah border were also allowed to resume on July 15.
