Pak-China strengthen healthcare cooperation through cancer care MoU

BEIJING: Pakistan and China have taken a significant step toward enhancing bilateral healthcare cooperation with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on cancer treatment, clinical research, medical education, professional training, academic exchange, and medical tourism.
The agreement was signed between Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, Watim Medical & Dental College (WMDC), and the China Pakistan Medical Association (CPMA). The ceremony was attended by prominent healthcare leaders and academic representatives from both countries.
Under the MoU, the three institutions will collaborate to advance cancer care services, promote joint research initiatives, facilitate medical education and training programs, and encourage the exchange of expertise between healthcare professionals in Pakistan and China. The partnership also aims to improve access to specialized cancer treatment through coordinated medical tourism initiatives.
During the event, WMDC presented its academic achievements and future plans, including a proposal to establish a dedicated Cancer Care Center at its teaching hospital. The proposed center would offer comprehensive oncology services while supporting clinical research and professional training.
CPMA President Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz described the agreement as a landmark step in Pakistan-China healthcare collaboration, while Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou’s Director of International Cooperation Lin Feishan emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing and innovation in advancing cancer care.
