Manchester: Shan Masood held his nerves calm and scored his career-best 156 off 319 balls to help Pakistan post 326 on the scoreboard in the first inning of the opening Test against England at Old Trafford.
Masood stood firm despite Pakistan kept losing wickets on the other hand and becomes the second opener to score three centuries in three consecutive Test innings.
Resuming the second day at 139-2, Pakistan lost Babar earlier as the right-handed batsman fell to Jimmy Anderson at slips without adding any run to his overnight total of 69.
Asad Shafiq and Mohammad Rizwan too fell earlier after scoring 7 and 9 runs respectively, leaving Pakistan reeling at 176-5.
Thereafter, Shadab Khan and Masood accelerated tourists’ inning and added 105 runs together. Shadab fought hard and scored 45 runs before giving away his wicket to Dom Bess.
For England, Jofra Archer and Stuart Broad bagged three wickets each while Dom Bess took a wicket. Chris Woakes managed to get two wickets.
