ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the European Union have expressed their determination to deepen and expand bilateral cooperation.
According to a statement released by Foreign Office here on Wednesday, the development came during the eighth round of the European Union Political Dialogue held in Brussels.
As per the statement, the dialogue covered a wide range of topics in the context of Pakistan-EU relations as well as regional and global developments. Both sides highlighted the importance of their multilateral partnership.
Pakistan’s Acting Foreign Secretary Johar Saleem and European External Action Service Deputy Secretary General Enrique Mora led their respective delegations, it said.
Acting Foreign Secretary Johar Saleem appreciated the timely and invaluable humanitarian aid and assistance provided by the European Union to the victims of the massive climatic floods in Pakistan.
Noting the complex challenges facing Afghanistan, Acting Foreign Secretary Johar Saleem reiterated the importance of the international community’s continued engagement with the Transitional Afghan Government to ensure the well-being of the Afghan people. Both sides have agreed to hold the next round of political talks in Islamabad next year.
