LAHORE: Pakistan is becoming a bustling hub of China-made blankets as demand for Chinese blankets has increased manifold at the onset of full-fledged winter season that has unleashing icy winds with spells of snowfall and rain in many parts of Pakistan.
Over the last many years, Chinese blankets have been gripping the Pakistani market. With diversification of Pakistan-China trade agreements, deepening of business to business activities, rising facilities to both traders in expos, and ease of doing business policies, Chinese blankets have captured the local market.
Majority of people especially middle class and lower middle class are prone to buy Chinese blankets due to affordable prices, quality, variety, color, and coziness.
“Sale price of Chinese blanket ranges between Rs. 3000 to Rs. 9000 and, in comparison to other brands in the market this price range is economical,” said a Rafiq Siraj, a retailer at Shah Aalmi market in Lahore.
Former Patron in Chief of Pakistan China Business Council Syed Mazar Ali Nasir said “China has a huge Blanket Manufacturing Market that is producing international standard stuff renowned for its warm and cozy substance. With artistic color and design, the blankets are qualitative and economical, conforming to budgetary limits of all and sundry. If compared with other foreign blanket, its demand in Pakistan is on the rise.
He said that it is a high time Pakistan should spare no effort in cultivating joint ventures with Chinese blanket companies.
