Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the country’s naval forces are fully prepared and, at the same time, committed to make the defence of Pakistan’s maritime borders impregnable, said.
The premier was addressing the participants of the 108th Midshipmen and the 17th Short Service Commission Course passing out parade at Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi.
“Pakistan believes in peaceful co-existence but our desire for peace must not be construed as our weakness,” said the prime minister.
Earlier on his arrival at the academy, Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi received PM Abbasi. He was also presented guard of honour at the start of the parade.
In all, 129 cadets, including cadets from friendly countries of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Maldives, Bahrain and Qatar, were passed out from the Pakistan Naval Academy.
Abbasi, who is in the port city for an official visit, also had inaugurated the construction of the White Oil Pipeline Mogas (WOPM) project at Port Qasim, enabling the transportation of multiple refined petroleum products to central and northern Pakistan.
