ISLAMABAD: Pakistan achieved the bronze medal at the Asian Champions Trophy on Tuesday, securing third place with a convincing 5-2 victory over South Korea.
The match, held at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Inner Mongolia, showcased an impressive performance from the Green Shirts.
Hannan Shahid and Sufyan Khan were standout players, each scoring two goals, while Roman Khan added another to seal the win.
Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan faced a dramatic semi-final clash against China.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw after regular time, with China taking the lead in the second quarter and Pakistan’s Ahmed Nadeem equalising in the third quarter.
The match was decided by a penalty shootout, which saw China emerge victorious, earning them a spot in the finals.
The final will see China compete against India, who had secured their place by defeating South Korea 4-1 in the second semi-final. India aims for its fifth Asian Champions Trophy title, a record if they overcome China in today’s final.
Despite the semi-final setback, Pakistan’s triumph over South Korea demonstrated their resilience and skill, capping off a strong tournament performance.
