HARIPUR/SARGODHA: Universities in Haripur and Sargodha celebrated Chinese New Year with certificate ceremonies and the launch of a Chinese resource facility, highlighting strengthening academic and cultural ties between Pakistan and China.
At the University of Haripur, the Internal Relations Office (China), in collaboration with the Human Resource Development Center, organized a Chinese New Year celebration and certificate distribution ceremony for students who completed a Chinese language course. The event drew a large number of students, faculty members and administrative officials, reflecting the institution’s commitment to international engagement and cultural exchange.
Prof. Dr. Aziz Ullah, director of the Human Resource Development Center (HRDC), organized the ceremony as part of ongoing efforts to promote Chinese language education at the university. Officials said such initiatives help prepare students for academic and professional opportunities linked to Pakistan-China cooperation.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ur Rehman congratulated the students and highlighted the growing importance of the Chinese language in education, research and professional spheres. He also commended the HRDC and the Internal Relations Office for facilitating programs that strengthen bilateral academic connections.
Certificates were awarded to students in recognition of their successful completion of the course. The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony symbolizing friendship and cultural harmony in celebration of the Chinese New Year.
Separately, at the University of Sargodha (UoS), Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas inaugurated a Chinese Resource Lounge during Chinese New Year celebrations organized by the Directorate of Pakistan Institute of China Studies (PICS).
The ceremony was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor and Director PICS Prof. Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan, along with senior academic and administrative officials. Speaking at the event, Abbas said the establishment of the resource lounge would strengthen academic collaboration and provide students with improved access to Chinese language and cultural learning resources. University officials said such initiatives reflect Pakistan’s broader efforts to expand educational partnerships and deepen cultural understanding with China through language education and academic cooperation.
