PAKISTAN Naval Chief Admiral Amjid Khan Niazi attended the passing out ceremony of PN Midshipmen at PNS Rahbar. On this occasion, 166 midshipmen of Pakistan Navy and other friendly Countries including Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Qatar completed their training successfully. While addressing the ceremony, CNS Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi said that “Our desire for peace and readiness must not be misconstrued as our weakness, as the Armed Forces of Pakistan were fully cognizant of all such nefarious designs and stand fully ready to foil them, whatever may be the cost.” Being small in size, Pakistan Navy has been actively defending the Pakistan’s sea borders and trade routes. Pakistan Navy boldly engaged Indian Navy in the wars of 1965, 1971, Kargil crisis in 1999, 2001 Ops Sentinel, 2008 Bombay attack and 2019 Pak-India standoff. During all these occasions, PN guarded the Country’s Sea with courage and bravely. Pakistan Navy traditional opponent is 7 times bigger from it in size and resources. However, due to better training and high professionalism, Pakistan Navy had successfully thwarted this eternal enemy in the past.
Pakistan Navy has launched a modernization plan to procure modern warships, Submarines, Air crafts, weapons and other related equipment from friendly countries. PN has established a Naval Research and Development Institute to develop local capability to design and build Naval warships, boats and other equipment. Pakistan Navy planned to expand its fleet to more than 50 warships, double the number of submarine and induction of indigenous gunboats to meet the growing challenges in the region. Pakistan Navy is endeavoring to become a submarine building country through its “Hangor” project, a joint venture of Pakistan and China. Pakistan Navy is also procuring unmanned armed drone “Wing Loong II” from China. It has initiated a joint project with Turkish firm for building of Corvette Naval ship in the recent months. Pakistan Navy modernization efforts will enhance Pakistan’s second-strike capability by increasing survivability of its surface and submarine fleet and provide considerable increased capability for attrition in future naval conflict with its adversaries. Pakistan Navy is protecting the country’s sea lanes of communication, Pakistan exclusive Economic Zone and vigorously working for building blue economy in the country.
