Karachi: Pakistan men’s cricket team tour of South Africa is likely to be delayed after Proteas’ director of cricket Graeme Smith has said that the team might not play any international cricket until November.
South Africa’s scheduled tour of West Indies has also been postponed indefinitely after Smith said that it would not happen as players will be playing the Indian Premier League.
“The West Indies tour has been postponed indefinitely. We are struggling to find the time with the IPL, when our players are likely to be needed from the beginning of September,” he told reporters on Saturday.
“In terms of when we will get back onto the field, we are probably looking at November onwards. And if all goes well, it will then be a very busy period for South African cricket, playing series at times when we don’t usually play,” he added.
According to the Future Tours Programme (FTP), Pakistan is scheduled to tour South Africa for three ODIs and as many T20Is in September or October.
It must be noted that South Africa is also scheduled to play two Tests in Pakistan in January 2021. – Agencies
