Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed fast bowler Mohammad Amir will join the Pakistan men’s national cricket team in England following the birth of his second daughter last week.
As part of the process, the 28-year-old first COVID-19 Test has been taken at his house. Amir will require two negative tests to be eligible to travel to the United Kingdom.
Amir has replaced fast bowler Haris Rauf, whose five COVID-19 Tests came positive out of six. Reserve wicketkeeper-batsman Rohail Nazir will be released from his duties as soon as Amir joins the squad.
On request of the team management, the PCB has also agreed to send masseur Mohammad Imran.
If their first tests return negative, both individuals will be moved to a bio-secure environment in Lahore where their second tests will be conducted on Wednesday, with the expected departures over the weekend.
It must be noted that Amir initially pulled out of the tour due to the birth of his child. Amir was blessed with a second baby girl on July 16th.
Fast bowler Mohammad Amir is likely to join the Pakistan team in England for the T20I series, ARY Sports reported today.
According to sources, Amir will replace emerging pacer Haris Rauf, whose fifth COVID-19 Test came positive out of sixth.
Sources also revealed that chief selector and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq have contacted Amir and asked for his availability.
