People’s mandate was stolen in 2024: Khaqan

KAHUTA: Former prime minister and chief of Awam Pakistan Party Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the mandate of people was stolen in 2024 elections.
Addressing an event in Kahuta, the veteran politician said that the parliament is full of unelected peo-ple.
“The election of 2018 was also rigged but the 2024 election was the most controversial one in our polit-ical history,” Abbasi said.
He added that most of the people reached parliament after giving bribe in 2024 elections. According to former prime minister, the country cannot progress without rule of law and supremacy of the constitution.
He added that corruption is rampant in the country these days and therefore we are lagging behind in every sector. “PML-N lost its popularity when the party deviated from its slogan of ‘Respect for Ballot’,” said the veteran politician, who was once a close confidant of Nawaz Sharif.
Earlier, Former prime minister and chief of Awam Pakistan Party Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the parliament if full of unelected people. He was addressing a political gathering on Monday.
“It is the most challenging task for a political worker to leave his party,” said Abbasi, who was once a close confidant of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif.
He said that the slogan of ‘Respect for Vote’ was only for the supremacy of the constitution but it wasn’t followed unfortunately.
“The whole cabinet kept sitting in the National Assembly and Senate for the passage of constitutional amendment but no one actually witnessed its draft,” the veteran politician said. –Agencies
