PESHAWAR: At least four people, including two women, were burnt alive and two other were wounded in a house fire incident in Peshawar on Tuesday, media reported.
The fire broke out in a house located in Koochi Bazar area of Peshawar, which spread very quickly and engulfed the entire house, killing four persons on the spot and critically injuring two others.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi stated that six individuals in critical condition were pulled from the blaze and rushed to the hospital.
“Sadly, four of them could not survive,” he confirmed, identifying the deceased as Rafiq, Shehnaz, Riaz, and Riaz’s wife.
Faizi mentioned that emergency teams, including fire engines and ambulances, arrived quickly after receiving the alert and immediately began rescue operations.
He said three people were initially saved from a house next to the market and taken for urgent medical care.
During the mission, two firefighters collapsed from the intense heat and smoke. They were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, where their condition was later reported as stable.
According to the spokesperson, 40 personnel and six fire tenders took part in extinguishing the flames. He added that rescue teams faced significant challenges due to the house’s location in a densely packed area with narrow streets. After sustained efforts, the fire was finally brought under control, and cooling operations were in progress. –Agencies
