RAWALPINDI: District Administration Rawalpindi seized 32 trucks and recovered 831 metric tonnes of wheat in collaboration with Motorway Police and Food Department, during last one week.
This was informed during the meeting of price control committee held here on Tuesday with Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Noorul Amin Mengal in chair.
The Commissioner Rawalpindi Division directed the official concerned to ensure availability of 10 kg flour bag for Rs480 during month of Ramadan.
Noorul Amin Mengal further said that the possibility of smuggling has increased due to decrease in the price of flour and therefore more and more strict monitoring is required. Also procurement and release of wheat will be going side by side so we need to remain more vigilant.
He said that a total of 14 check posts have been set up in Rawalpindi division including Sang Jani Toll Plaza, Brahma Bahtar Interchange and M1 Interchange in Rawalpindi district. In District Attock check-posts are established at Attock Khurd (Malan Mansoor), Jhari Kas, Khushal Garh and Jamshed Ghazi Road. Mangla Dina in Jhelum District and In Chakwal Blaksar Interchange, Neela Dehla and Kalar Kahar.
The Commissioner said that Rawalpindi district administration, in collaboration with the Motorway Police and the Food Department, seized 32 trucks and recovered 831 metric tonnes of wheat during the last one week.
He further said that the purpose of government subsidy is to provide relief to the people. Therefore, all concerned officers should ensure that the wheat and flour given on subsidy is within the reach of common man.
Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Tahir Farooq, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Qasim Ijaz, Deputy Director Food Zaman Khan and other concerned officers attended meeting in personal whereas Deputy Commissioners of Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal District attended via video link.
