BEIJING: The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) delivered a batch of COVID-19 vaccines to the Lebanese army on Sunday upon their request, according to an official statement from the PLA.
Last month, Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon wrote in his tweet on March 1, 2021 that China will donate 50,000 shots of its Sinopharm vaccine to Lebanon. Lebanon, deep in the throes of a financial crisis, launched its inoculation drive in February after receiving its first shots of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine with aid from the World Bank.
In the first stage of vaccination against COVID, Lebanon had started Vaccination drive on February 14, 2021 with jabs for health care workers and the elderly in an inoculation drive it hopes will keep the outbreak in check amid a deepening economic crisis.
