EITHER as well thought out political strategy or by dictation of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from abroad PML-N senior leaders are propagating ant-state narrative, which cannot be rejected as slip of tongue or ignored after their vague clarification and interpretation in TV talk shows. The remarks made by former National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq were deliberate for an intended objective. He made an irresponsible statement on the floor of National Assembly, claiming that release of captured Indian fighter pilot wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was made by the PTI government due to fear of imminent attack by India. The statement lay bare the trans-border business and political interest of his party Quid Nawaz Sharif. Unfortunately, two senior leaders of PML-N Rana Sanullah and Ahsan Iqbal have defended the statement of former National Assembly speaker. It served as ammunition of hybrid warfare launched by India against Pakistan.
After his comments went viral on social media and picked up by Indian TV channels, Ayaz Sadiq issued a clarification that Indian media reports were “totally contrary” to what he actually said in the parliament. But again, while talking to media in Lahore alongside JUI (F) Central Amir Maulana Fazlu Rehman, Ayaz Sadiq said that he stand by his stance taken during speech in parliament on Thursday. However, such like stereotype and cliché clarification cannot undo the damage which he did to the image of Pakistan as responsible state of international community. The release of Indian pilot was a sagacious diplomatic move, which reflected Pakistan’s quest for peace in the region. Dismissing the narrative that former National Assembly speaker, Director General ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar said in a press conference, “It is extremely disappointing to link Wing Commander Abhinandan release with anything other than a responsible state’s mature response.” He said that this sort of false claim is tantamount to blur Pakistan’s clear supremacy and victory over India, which is not acceptable to any Pakistani. DG ISPR said, “Such narrative runs contrary to the national security and the enemy is taking thorough advantage of it in the information domain as evident from the glimpses in the Indian media.” He said that enemy forces have imposed a hybrid war and we would have to move forward with greater responsibility, adding that people will help defeat every conspiracy against Pakistan and a befitting response shall be given to any aggressor.
