PM awards 10 best performing Ministries

PRIME MINISTER IMRAN KHAN ADDRESSING AT PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATES AWARD CEREMONY IN ISLAMABAD ON 10TH FEBRUARY, 2022

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday awarded certificates of appreciation to the 10 best performing federal ministries. Addressing the ceremony held in Islamabad,

the premier said that no system in the world can succeed without having a reward and punishment mechanism.
“This [certificates] is a great opportunity for everyone to know how they [the ministries] are performing,” PM Imran said, adding that he hoped that the performance of the ministries will improve during the remaining tenure of the government.
The premier further stressed that improving the performance of ministries was critical to achieving the objective of Pakistan becoming self-sufficient.
“Performance assessment is very imperative to bring improvement in the bureaucracy,” he said. “The government is fully focusing on ensuring good governance and the main objective is to improve the lives of the people,” he added.
Imran also informed that incentives and extra allowances will be given to employees of the best-performing ministries.
The premier further suggested assessing the qualitative performance of ministries and giving weightage to those that keep the country’s national interest at its core.
He said that a total of 1,090 targets had been set by the ministries of which 424 will be completed this year, including 207 related to governance and 100 to infrastructure.
The ministers awarded during the ceremony held earlier today include: Minister for Communications Murad Saeed, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation Sania Nishtar, Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari, Minister for Industries and Production Khusro Bakhtiyar, Advisor on National Security Division Dr Moeed Yusuf, Adviser on Commerce Razak Dawood, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Minister for National Food Security Fakhar Imam.
Earlier, the PM was apprised on ministries’ performances by the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Establishment Mohammad Shehzad Arbab.
According to the PM’s vision of good governance, performance agreements were signed between the Prime Minister’s Office and the federal ministries under which all the ministries set targets.
The agreements will help to improve performance, timely completion of targets, resolution of public issues, effective policymaking and compilation of data required for good governance.
The main purpose of these agreements is to evaluate the performance of ministries, enforce penalties for government officials and improve service delivery.
