ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his warm regards to the Sikh community residing in Pakistan and worldwide as they commemorated the celebration of Baisakhi on Sunday.
In a statement released by the PMO media wing, the premier affirmed the commitment of the government and all provincial administrations to ensuring the provision of necessary facilities to Sikh Yatrees visiting their sacred sites within the country to observe their religious customs. “Baisakhi is a vibrant occasion symbolizing the arrival of spring and fostering the exchange of sentiments such as love, affection, and joy,” remarked PM Shehbaz.
He expressed pride in Pakistan’s diverse faiths and cultures, noting that the celebration of Baisakhi further enriches this cultural mosaic.
“On the occasion of Baisakhi, I extend to you all a message of love, affection, and peace. Let us all contribute to the construction of a peaceful world,” the statement concluded. President Asif Ali Zardari also extended his congratulations to the Sikh community in celebration of Baisakhi, said a statement issued by the President’s Secretariat.
In a message highlighting the significance of the occasion, the president emphasized the values of love, happiness, peace, and affection.
“Pakistan takes pride in its diverse cultural heritage,” remarked the president.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of the Sikh community, pledging to take all necessary steps to facilitate their needs.
President Zardari also reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to upholding the rights of all minorities, acknowledging their valuable contributions to the nation’s progress and development.
At least 2,475 Sikh pilgrims arrived in Pakistan from India through Wagah border to commemorate Khalsa Janam Din and partake in the festivities of Baisakhi Mela slated for April 13.
