ISLAMABAD: Following the vision and special interest of the Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and under the directions of Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, the Islamabad Police has launched the country’s first-ever mobile police station.
In this regard, the Prime Minister, along with federal ministers and senior officials, formally inaugurated the mobile police station during a prestigious ceremony held at Safe City Islamabad. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi stated that this police station will cover the entire territory of Islamabad, allowing FIR registration from any jurisdiction within the city.
The primary objective of establishing the “Police Station on Wheels” is to promptly address the concerns of housewives, working women in offices and institutions, and senior citizens. He further shared that a test run of the online police station had been underway for the past two months, during which issues of over 7,000 individuals were promptly resolved. Notably, on July 22, 2025, the first FIR by a woman was officially registered through the mobile unit, he added.
IGP Islamabad further noted that the in-charge of this mobile police station is a female Sub-Inspector, who will respond promptly to emergencies, especially those involving women and senior citizens along with male and female responders. A motorcycle responder unit also operates alongside the “Police Station on Wheels.” Moreover, 12 different software systems have been integrated into this modern mobile unit. A state-of-the-art surveillance system using Safe City cameras has been installed for effective monitoring.
It is also equipped with vehicle tracking, AI-based ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition), and an automated identification system. The mobile station is connected to Pakistan’s national criminal record database as well. In addition to registering digital FIRs, it can also maintain all registers of traditional police stations. IGP Islamabad added that this mobile station also provides services offered by the Police Khidmat Markaz and traffic department.
Citizens can obtain character certificates, police verifications, register domestic workers and tenants, and apply for learner’s driving licenses or renew existing ones from this mobile unit at their doorstep.
