PM pays tribute to Navy for rescuing 18 crew members of merchant vessel

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Friday paid tribute to Pakistan Navy for safely rescuing 18 crew members from different countries during an emergency humanitarian relief operation in North Arabian Sea.
He appreciated the professionalism, prompt response and humanitarian spirit of Pakistan Navy officers and men.
On receiving an emergency call from Merchant vessel “Gold Autumn”, Pakistan Navy ship PNS Hunain conducted a prompt and effective search and rescue operation, he added.
He said crew members from different countries including China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam and Indonesia were safely evacuated in the operation.
“All the personnel were shifted to Karachi where they are being provided medical facilities and arrangements are being made for their return to their respective countries,” he explained.
He said Pakistan Navy will always play its role as the leading assistance institution in all types of maritime emergencies within the scope of its responsibility.
