ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday said his government was focused on carrying out plantations in the country for the sake of its coming generations.
“The greening of Pakistan (is) for our future generations,” the prime minister said in a tweet, with regard to his vision of a Clean and Green Pakistan.
The prime minister shared a video clip showing the barren land of Bhakkar in 2019 turned into lush green land under the government’s plantation drive.
“Amazing results of billion tree plantation drive in just over two and a half years,” he said, mentioning the Bhakkar’s before and after the video.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday congratulated the new prime minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba on winning the trust vote in the parliament.
“I congratulate H.E. Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prime Minister of Nepal, on winning the vote of confidence from the House of Representatives,” the prime minister posted on his Twitter account.
Imran Khan expressed desire to continue working with Nepal in areas of common interest.
“Pakistan looks forward to further deepening its cordial ties with Nepal & would continue to work closely with Nepal on issues of common interest,” he said.
Nepal’s new Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday comfortably won a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives, ensuring continuity of the twice dissolved lower house of Parliament for the remaining duration.
Deuba, the 75-year-old chief of the Nepali Congress who was appointed as the prime minister as per the Article 76(5) of the Constitution on July 12 following Supreme Court’s intervention, secured 165 votes in the 275-member house.
Also, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday taking notice of the complaint of a mother regarding alleged rape of her disabled minor daughter directed an immediate arrest of the culprits. The mother had lodged a complaint with the Pakistan Citizen Portal under the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit that her daughter was assaulted in Okara, while the investigation officer of the incident had demanded a bribe from her.
The prime minister ordered an immediate legal action against the culprits. He stressed a transparent investigation into the matter with a direction to keep the Prime Minister’s Office informed about the investigation. On reports of the investigating officer demanding a bribe from the mother of the disabled girl, the PMDU on the direction of the prime minister asked the District Police Officer (DPO) Okara to take an immediate action.
