-Wants govt officials’ performance based on public complaints addressed

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to take administrative control of the power sector of the country.
Reportedly, Prime Minister Khan on Friday decided to look after the administrative affairs of the power sector by himself. An agreement in this regard has been signed between the premier and authorities of the ministry of power division.
The power ministry has prepared a policy to improve the efficiency of the electricity companies.The Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) has dispatched the draft of the policy to all companies including Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO).
The draft policy suggests measures to bring about improvement in all sectors of the companies including material management, health policy, transport policy, human resource and transfers and postings policies.
The distribution companies have been asked to give suggestions to modernize the policy.
The board of directors will finalize the policy. After the finalization of the policy, an agreement will be reached between Pepco and other distribution companies.Separately, PM Imran Khan also directed the Establishment Division to evolve a mechanism regarding linking the performance report of government officials with the resolution of public complaints.
According to the PM office, a letter has been issued to the establishment division in this regard.
The letter states that addressing public complaints should be the top priority of a government official.
Immediate redressal of complaint and public satisfaction on it is the best scale to gauge the performance of a government official.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed the authorities concerned to reopen as many as 155,000 public complaints lodged on the Pakistan Citizen Portal to redress the grievance of the complainants.
According to the Prime Minister Office, Prime Minister Khan instructed that complaints of dissatisfied citizens registered during the period of July to December last year should be reopened.
Resolving public issues is the top priority of the government and any negligence in the redressal of grievances will not be tolerated, the prime minister had warned.
