ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Sunday has feared that the second wave of coronavirus could hit Pakistan in winter.
PM Khan in his tweet said, as compared to other countries, Pakistan remained safe from the worst impacts of the deadly virus by Almighty Allah.
“There is a fear onset of winter could result in 2nd wave. I urge everyone to wear face masks in public to avoid a spike. All offices & education institutions must ensure masks are worn.”
Pakistan reported six more coronavirus-related deaths during the past 24 hours, pushing the death toll from the deadly disease to 6,513.

The number of Covid-19 cases across the country has reached 314,616 with the addition of the new cases. There are 9,135 active Covid-19 cases as 298,968 patients have recuperated from the infection.
More than 3.6 million tests have been conducted in the country. 513 of the patients under treatment at various hospitals across the country are said to be in critical condition.
So far, Sindh has reported 138,050 cases of the coronavirus, Punjab 99,812, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 37,973, Balochistan 15,371, Islamabad 16,766, Gilgit Baltistan 3,828, and Azad Jammu and Kahsmir 2,816.
Earlier, on October 2, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar tweeted that indoor restaurants and marriage halls are emerging as high contributors to the COVID-19 spread.
“NCOC today has directed all provinces and federating units to crack down on sop violations in these places. We must not allow the irresponsible behavior of some to put the health of everyone at risk.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned the session of Pakistan National Nutrition Coordination Council (PNNCC). The second session of Pakistan National Nutrition Coordination Council (PNNCC) has been summoned by PM Imran Khan on Monday (today) which was earlier scheduled on October 2. However, it was postponed by the federal government on substantive grounds.
UN Regional Coordinator Jolene Frederick and the head of UNICEF Pakistan will participate in the upcoming session of PNNCC which would deliberate upon government steps in accordance with the challenges of the nutrition situation in the country. Dr Sania Nishtar and Dr Baseer Achakzai will brief the participants of the meeting, whereas, the representatives of international institutions will brief details of ongoing projects in Pakistan, sources added.
The national council will envisage a comprehensive strategy for overcoming the challenges regarding malnutrition in the country. The first session of PNNCC had held at PM Secretariat on November 8 last year where the premier Imran Khan chaired the council with six ministers as its members.
